Designing a website is in most cases not an easy task. There are several issues that have to be addressed before a design is developed. First you have to outline the theme of the site, this is to textify (write down) what you are designing for. Are you developing an Internet site for vacuum cleaners, you do not want to have a design like this site. This site is ment to be dark, that is no bright colors. Secondly you want a design that characterizes the site so that visitors remembers your Internet site and not the other 100 they have visited the same day.
There exist many guidelines in how to create and design Web pages. One of the better is Alertbox.

Ragnarok was designed and created in GIMP before any Web Page was developed. Some of the benefits in doing this is that you do not have to spend time creating the webpages in HTML, it is easier to change your design, and it is alot easier when you start implementing the design. We have also used some of the infamous JavaScript to create a MouseOver effect on the top and left menu.

We have also followed the HTML 4.01 Transitional standard established by World Wide Web Consortium. In order to get most browsers to comprehend the pages and to render them correctly, this standard has to be followed. The design on this site has been tried on Linux, Mac and Windows with different browsers (Internet Explorer, Opera versions 4 and up, Netscape 4.7 and up and some other less used browsers). The pages has been designed for a screen resolution of no less than 800 x 600 which most users use.
